Perhaps the best way to describe Simeone and Mourinho is that they are both winners, by hook or by crook. Passion is what defines them, and as such, they occassionally cross a few boundaries on the touchline. The pair know how to motivate their sides to ensure they are at their best, but despite their achievements, there are still those who doubt them.
Simeone claimed the Europa League crown against Marseille, adding that to the La Liga trophy, the Copa del Rey, the Spanish Super Cup and the European Super Cup in his enviable trophy cabinet, with the former Argentina international now possessing an average of a trophy per season.
That collection could be even more impressive, had Atletico managed to win one of the two Champions League finals they lost to Real Madrid in the space of three years.
Simeone's outbursts on the touchline have only increased the number of comparisons with his Manchester United counterpart, though the Atleti boss is certainly a calmer figure when facing the press than the Portuguese.

The Argentine's style of play has also drawn significant comparisons with that of Mourinho. Substance over style is very much the order of the day at the Wanda, with passion, desire and commitment the very minimum that is expected of the Atleti players.
The way in which Atletico have developed since Simeone's arrival has been clear, going from 23rd in the European rankings and a long way short of fellow La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona to second in the the rankings and a genuine Spanish superpower.
Perhaps Simeone will never win over the love of the average fan, but his record so far speaks for itself.
