Manchester City could be facing a return to Champions League with a hampered backline, following the doubtful injury situations of goalkeeper Ederson and captain Vincent Kompany.
Ederson was stretchered off 37 minutes into City's 5-0 demolition of Liverpool on Sunday, requiring eight stitches down the side of his face following a nasty collision with Liverpool forward Sadio Mane, who would receive a red card for his role in the clash.
The Brazilian has since trained with the rest of the City squad on Tuesday morning, taking full part but sporting a skull cap throughout the session.
Whilst his role in training is a positive development for City, it remains to be seen whether he will ready for Wednesday night's opener against Eredivisie champions Feyenoord in Holland, or whether Chilean Claudio Bravo will deputise.
Missing training on Tuesday morning, though, was club captain Vincent Kompany. The Belgian sustained a calf injury on international duty during a 9-0 victory over Gibraltar, and was absent for his side's routing of Liverpool at the Etihad on Sunday.
Kompany will hope to return to contention soon, but the injury, though the defender has now tallied 15 spells on the sidelines in the last five years.
