Newcastle ponder Luiz loan swoop

English publication 'The Daily Mail' reports that 'Magpies' boss Rafa Benitez is keen on signing the Brazilian on a temporary basis, having previously worked with him during his time in charge at Stamford Bridge.

The pair were seen talking during the recent Premier League game between the two sides at Stamford Bridge, sparking rumours of a sensational reunion.

However, the aformentioned source claims that Luiz will not be allowed the leave the Premier League champions until they have brought in cover in the centre of defence, whilst the 30-year-old is thought to be keen on a switch to a higher profile side should he be forced out.

The Brazil international has fallen out with 'Blues' boss Antonio Conte in recent weeks, though the Italian insists that Luiz's current absence is down to a knee injury.

Newcastle have fallen down the Premier League table rapidly of late, having won just one of their last thirteen league games and losing eight of their last nine.
