Butland has continued where he left off for Stoke after a long injury layoff with some impressive displays in the Premier League. Additionally, it was reported that the English man has a preference for Liverpool over other interested parties such as Arsenal because of his desire to work with Jurgen Klopp.
Stoke are resigned to losing Butland, especially if they drop out of the Premier League, but their asking price is rumoured to be around £40million. However, this could rise over the summer - Butland will likely be England's starting goalkeeper at the World Cup and a string of good performances would no doubt see his value go up.
Liverpool are also looking at Roma's Alisson, but with Butland's experience in the Premier League he would be the perfect fit for the 'Reds'.
