Although it is public knowledge that Iniesta is headed to the CSL, the 33-year-old has not yet confirmed which club he will join. After closing out a tremendously successful career at Barcelona, the most likely desination is Chongqing Dangdai Lifan.
For several weeks, the midfielder had been linked with a move to Tianjin Quanjian, at which he would earn a reported €37million per season, but it seems that his future in the CSL is at a different club entirely.
Chongqing Dangdai Lifan currently compete in the Chinese First Division and are occupying ninth position. Jiang Lizhang has been the majority shareholder at the club since January 2017.
Jiang Lizhang is also the owner of Granada, who are struggling to regain their position in La Liga. In fact, according to 'Marca', it is the Chinese owner himself who has led negotiations with Iniesta.
The idea is that the club get a flashy signing, and they do have players in their squad who had competed in Europe until recently. The most well-known players in Iniesta's potential future club are Alan Kardec or the Brazilian, Fernandinho.
Iniesta must inform Barcelona of his decision before the end of April. Jiang Lizhang seems to have been the man to convince the Barca captain to head for the Asian continent.
