Ernesto Valverde and the press both seem uninterested in him, as during his press conference on Monday ahead of the Champions League clash against Chelsea, the Barcelona manager preferred to talk about Paulinho and Andre Gomes.
Dembele arrived at Barcelona short of fitness after a protracted transfer saga, and it showed as he pulled up in game early in the season against Getafe. Hamstring and tendon issues led to three months out, before his comeback was cut short and he was out again for another three weeks.
When he finally did get back on the pitch, in a 27 minute cameo against the same Getafe side, he flattered to deceive. The Frenchman gave the ball away 13 times in those 27 minutes, more than any other Barcelona player.
There was even a moment where he elected to cross to the back post rather than giving it to Lionel Messi on the edge of the box, with the Argentine's reaction subdued as the ball ran out of play.
Nonetheless, Barcelona are looking after their young star, including giving him a private chef during his time out so that he can stay on top of his diet. Additionaly, the main reason why he isn't being rushed back into the team is becase the 'Blaugrana' have coped just fine without him. They remain unbeaten in the league, but with Messi and Luis Suarez having played almost every minute of every game this season, Dembele's time should come soon.
