Arsenal told to stump up £40m for Draxler

'Gunners' boss Arsenal Wenger is a huge fan of the 24-year-old and previously tried to sign him when he was at Wolfsburg.

The Germany international has struggled to make himself one of the first names on the teamsheet since moving to the French capital last January, having fallen down the pecking order following the big-money arrivals of Kylian Mbappe and Neymar during the summer.

Nevertheless, Wenger has been keeping an eye on his development and according to English publication 'The Sun', the Arsenal boss will make a push to sign the player when the transfer window reopens in the New Year and has been told he will have to cough up £40m in order to do so.

The aformentioned source claims that the north Londoners see Draxler as the ideal replacement for wantaway star Alexis Sanchez, who is expected to seal a move to Manchester City sooner or later.

Arsenal are thought to be prepared to cash in on the Chilean in January, providing they sign a replacement, with Draxler top of their wishlist.

However, there is also thought to be interest in the flying flanker from Premier League rivals Liverpool, meaning that Arsenal may need to act fast to seal a deal.
