Real's two birght, young things have won numerous admirers for their performances during Ronaldo's absence but they will not be looking forward to seeing him return as despite the question marks hanging over the recent form of Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale, Ronaldo does indeed have a guaranteed place in Zinedine Zidae's starting line-up.
The return of the current Ballon d'Or holder and Real's third captain will complicate things for Zidane, who has so far had a 'break' from having to accomodate Ronaldo, something which had allowed him to call upon the two youngsters as he wished.
But now, with the main man back and with Zidane unlikely to relent in his unwavering support of the 'BBC' there is one main question that comes to mind: What next for Isco and Asensio?
The pair should continue to feature at least semi-regularly thanks to Zidane's rotation policy and as such the pair may not notice Ronaldo's return too much.
With Benzema currently injured, a space has opened up in the side. Whilst Ronaldo is the most likely to fill that void for now, it does mean that there is space in the Real team for an Isco or an Asensio to play in and around the Portuguese, creating space for him and playing him in when the opportunity arises.
The other option is to play one of them in the middle of the park. With Real tending to favour a 4-3-3 these days, Isco could well be used as the most advanced of the midfield three, making him the focal point of Real's midfield play and allowing Asensio to play in a freer role further forward supporting Ronaldo.
Despite thise, it is almost certain that the pair will struggle for gametime even more when Benzema returns from injury.
However, Zidane is unlikely to let two of his most talent players twiddle their thumbs on the sidelines for too long, with squad rotation set to be a key theme going forward.
