The powers that be at the Santiago Bernabeu are worried that Benzema, in what may well be his worst spell as a Madrid striker, is the only stiker which Zidane trusts. The coach has barely given any gametime to Borja Mayoral, the club's back-up striker, so Florentino Perez could be forced to turn to the transfer market to try and bring a reliable striker to the Spanish capital.
According to 'Bernabeu Digital', the bosses at Madrid already have three names in mind. The preference would be to sign one of them in the January window, but if this proves too difficult, then it seems they will be willing to wait until the summer market opens.
The first candidate is none other than Paulo Dybala. The Juventus star started the season in fine form, but his form has trailed off recently, as he seems to be more aware of goings on outside of his current club. His signing would be a huge statement, given that the Argentinian is backed to be one of the best players in the world in the next few years.
Should Dybala reject a move to the Bernabeu, 'Los Blancos' will make a move for Harry Kane. The Tottenham striker scores goals for fun. His arrival would bring about a change in style to the team, because Kane has a very different playing style to that of Benzema. That being said, Tottenham promise to put up a serious fight when it comes to negotiation a deal for the player.
The third option is Antoine Griezmann. The Frenchman has made it clear that he wants to leave Atletico come the end of the season and he wouldn't be averse to switching to the side who share the city with 'Los Rojiblancos'. The main obstacle would be club president Enrique Cerezo, who doesn't seem keen on letting his star player in recent years go to their eternal rival.
Who do you think is the right man to replace Karim Benzema as Madrid's No 9?
