One of the youngest Ajax sides in recent history has made it back to a European final against Manchester United, who are undergoing a process of renovation mixing youth and experience in their lineup.
Many records are broken in the fixture, with the Dutch side's lineup being the youngest ever in a European final, with an average age of 22 years and 282 days. Most of their players weren't even born when Ajax last lifted the Champions League 22 years ago.
It comes as no surprise, as they have the youngest player to ever feature in a European final in Matthijs de Ligt, who is only 17 years and 285 days old.
Goalkeeper Onana (21), defenders Sanchez (20) and Riedewald (20) and strikers Traore (21) and Dolberg (19) make a strong point for Ajax's high level of maturity despite their young age.
Precisely star-striker Dolberg was born in the same month as the man who will lead the line for United, Marcus Rashford. The English youngster is now the youngest play to start a major European final since 1980, at the age of 19 years and 205 days.
A final which will blend old and young, wisdom and inexperience, but which will surely go down as the first for a new generation of young European talents.
