Real Madrid are closely tracking Werner's medical reports after tests carried out by the German national team and Leipzig's own medical staff, as reported by 'Marca'. A jaw problem caused him some hearing trouble, but the striker appears to have recovered.
The noise generated inside Besiktas' stadium in the Champions League fixture caused him so much pain he was forced off the pitch. Three weeks on the sidelines, and Werner is ready to be back in action.
His numbers speak for him: he has featured in 21 matches in the Bundesliga, German Cup, Champions League and World Cup qualifiers, scoring 12 goals in total.
But Werner is not only subject of Madrid's desire. Barcelona are also monitoring the star striker and Valverde even sent scouts to watch Germany's latest friendly at Wembley.
The 21-year-old is tipped to become his national team's future striker and is capable of combining in build-up play as well as showing a ruthless eye for goal inside the box.
Whatever the case, Leipzig will not make his exit easy. They have no financial troubles thanks to Red Bull's backing and they will attempt to step up negotiations for the player's renewal.
