Jay Rodriguez joined Pulis's team earlier this month in a deal worth £12m.
The Baggies scored just 43 goals in 38 league games last season but Pulis is confident that the 27-year-old can play a key role in the new campaign.
Pulis said ‘I've spoken to a lot of people who have worked with him and, apart from those ravenous injuries, everyone will tell you he's a fantastic character. He works hard and his goal scoring speaks for itself.'
West Brom have so far wrapped up the signings of Rodriguez, Ahmed Hegazy and Yuning Zhang, and the Baggies boss has confirmed they remain in the hunt for new players.
