Catalan publication 'Sport' reports that Erkut Sogut, Ozil's representative, has met with Barca's general manager Pep Segura to discuss a possible move for the German international.
The meeting between the two parties was done in secret and the objective of both parties was clear: Barca wanted to know how responsive Ozil would be to an offer and the agent wanted to know what the club's intentions were with his client.
The aformentioned source went on to claim that Ozil's agent told the Catalan side that the playmaker would be delighted with the opportunity to pull on the club's famous 'blaugrana' kit, despite having turned out for arch-rivals Real Madrid earlier in his career.
Barca, meanwhile explained that they hold a very serious interest in the World Cup winner's services, though 'Sport' maintains that Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho remains the club's No 1 choice.
Sogut is also thoguht to have assured Barca that the talks were done with Arsenal's blessing, with Ozil not technically allowed to discuss a pre-contract until January.
Once again it appears that the transfer merry-go-round relies on Coutinho.
