Widespread reports had suggested that the Catalan giants had agreed a contract with Dembele, but this has also been dismissed as speculation.
The Frenchman is currently suspended by Dortmund after he missed training in the wake of his club's decision to reject Barcelona's huge offer.
Dortmund also confirmed on Sunday that Dembele will remain suspended "until further notice", as the German side turn their attention to the start of the Bundesliga season.
Peter Bosz's side will get their 2017/18 Bundesliga campaign underway against Wolfsburg on Saturday.
