According to Spanish publication 'Diario Gol', Perez ses Neymar as the club's long term successor to Cristiano Ronaldo, with the Brazilian turning 26 on the same day Ronaldo turns 33 next February.
However, in order to fund a huge move to bring the PSG star to the Bernabeu, Perez is considering selling four of his star players: Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, Raphael Varane and James Rodriguez.
Neymar's buyout clause at PSG is 222 million euros, although some sources suggest that could rise to up to 250 million euros in the coming years.
In order to raise these funds, Perez started by selling Alvaro Morata to Chelsea last summer, but he is planning on offloading a few more of his stars in the near future.
The aforementioned source claims that, in the best case scenario, Perez is hoping for 80 million euros from Bale, 60 million from Benzema and 50 million from both James and Varane. Those numbers seems slightly optimistic, but Perez is an experienced negotiator when it comes to transfer deals.
For now, Perez wants to keep hold of Cristiano Ronaldo, whose contract with Madrid runs until 2021, but in the long term he wants Neymar to replace the Portuguese star and will eventually look to move him on.
It would certainly represent a big risk getting rid of four star players to fund the arrival of one blockbuster signing, but usually if Florentino Perez wants something, he gets it.
