The Italian club reportedly wanted to bring the Chile international back to the Serie A during the summer, but their pursuit was unsuccessful.
However, following the departure of Carlo Ancelotti from the Bavarian giants, Inter believe that a deal could be agreed for the former Juventus man.
According to 'Corriere dello Sport', Vidal has not yet signed a new deal at Bayern which would see him stay with the Bundesliga champions until 2021.
The 30-year-old's current deal expires in 2019, which would mean he would be free to speak to foreign clubs in just over a year's time.
After a successful spell at Juventus, Vidal joined Bayern in 2015 for a fee of £28m, signing a four-year deal with the club.
He has since become a key player for the Bundesliga giants and won the league title in his first two seasons at the Allianz Arena.
