Hazard has scored eight goals and laid on seven assists in 21 appearances in all competitions so far this season since returning from a broken foot and has shone since moving into a central role alongside Alvaro Morata.
Real Madrid have been regularly linked with a move for the former Lille man, but Desailly believes that Chelsea needn't worry too much about a potential exit for the player as the club would do just fine without him.
'We are still in the season, no player is more important than the club,' the World Cup winner told 'Goal'.
'Even when [Didier] Drogba left, one of the great players, the spirit of the club continued. They continued to win.
'We will be sad if Hazard has to go but I am sure that Roman Abramovich is still passionate about the club.
'He will bring in another player that can allow the club to be at the same level again.'
The question would be, how many players are there out there who could join a new club and immediately match Hazard's level of performance? Not too many I'd wager.
