The Premier League leaders faced second-placed Spurs at Wembley in search of a spot in the FA Cup final. There was great atmosphere in and around the legendary stadium for the crunch clash which celebrated the life of Tottenham U23s coach Ugo Ehiogu with a minute's clapping.
The game got off to a frantic start, with both teams showing why they are at the top of the league table. However, it was Chelsea that took an early lead after Pedro won a dangerous free kick at the edge of the box. Willian stepped up to take and curled the ball into the far post beyond Lloris' reach.
Tottenham were able to recompose well and quickly claim possession, and they were rewarded promptly as Kane headed the ball into the bottom corner of the far post. Chelsea at this stage were looking second-best finding it hard to get on the ball and get close to Lloris.
Despite Spurs' domination it was once again the Blues who went ahead. Son, playing at left wing-back, went into a lunging tackle on Moses with the Nigerian making the most of it to earn a spot-kick. Willian sent Lloris the wrong way score his second of the game.
Tottenham came out to the second half taking control of possession again and Alli managed to find the net after a great ball behind the defence from Eriksen. After the goal, it continued to be Pochettino's side who pushed, but Chelsea's defence proved tough to break down.
Conte decided to bring on Hazard and Costa, whom had been on the bench from the start, in a bid to get his side back into the game, and the move paid off. First, Hazard picked up the ball after a corner and finished past Lloris with his low left-footed strike.
A few minutes later, with Spurs pushing for another equaliser, Hazard danced around the box and pulled the ball back for Matic outside the box. The Serbian midfielder let fly a ball straight into the top corner to certify Chelsea's qualification for the FA Cup final, and put the double within reach for the Blues.
Tottenham deserved more, having claimed much of the ball and piled the pressure on Chelsea, who showed they know how to battle and suffer when they have to. The Blues will play either Manchester City or Arsenal in the final.
