With Antonio Conte in charge, the Blues are back to the top. The fifth league title in Abramovich's reign at Stamford Bridge, and one of the most important triumphs in the club's history, that will forever be remembered as the last trophy to be lifted by captain John Terry.
It was a difficult beginning for Conte, despite starting off at Chelsea with three wins, consecutive defeats to Liverpool (1-2) and Arsenal (3-0) prompted the press to take it out on the Italian. But real winners emerge in the toughest times.
The defeat to Wenger's side changed the team's dynamic. That day, coach and players came together to begin their quest for the Premier League title against the promising sides managed by Mourinho and Guardiola, who finally failed to deliver.
The change in formation proved to be cataclysmic, switching to a 3-4-3 system that immediately rewarded the Blues with a 13-match winning streak. As Conte himself said after the win at West Brom: 'I think the decision [to switch to three at the back] changed our season', he told Sky Sports, 'Before, we didn't have the right balance. After the bad defeats to Liverpool and Arsenal, I wanted to change and find a new system, and in my mind there was this option to play with a 3-4-3 because I know the characteristics of the players would allow it, and give us more solidity'.
Wins over Manchester United (4-0), title holders Leicester (3-0), Everton (5-0), Tottenham (2-1) and Manchester City (1-3) took Conte's team straight to the top. Tottenham ultimately brought the impressive run to an end (2-0) with over half of the season gone.
Chelsea dropped a few points at Anfield (1-1) and were shell-shocked after a home defeat to Crystal Palace (1-2). Mourinho also got his revenge at Old Trafford (2-0), but the Blues were unwavering in their bid to lift the trophy.
That is how, the team including 'Player of the Season' N'Golo Kante, the feisty Diego Costa and the brilliant Eden Hazard, have managed to become champions of the Premier League.
