The left-back made 338 appearances for the Londoners during an eight-spell at Stamford Bridge and admits that when he hangs up his boots, he would like to return to his former club.
The 36-year-old is still active and has been playing for LA Galaxy in the MLS since 2016 following a disappointing spell with Roma.
In an interview with 'FourFourTwo', Cole, when asked about his future plans, explained that: I’m enjoying it here (LA) at the moment, but I would like to go back to England and work for Chelsea in some capacity if I could, so that would be my first choice."
“Coaching or being a scout is something I’ve always considered and enjoyed while watching games. I try to nurture young players coming through, so it’s something I have in the back of my mind for after I finish playing. But I want to play for as long as I possibly can, because once you finish playing, you are done for life.”
Cole scored a rare goal on Tuesday for Galaxy, as they lost 6-2 to Real Salt Lake. The defender famously never scored in any of his 107 games for England.
