Burnley manager Sean Dyche is optimistic in bringing in Lorient forward Abdul Majeed Waris, as he wants to add to his summer signings.
They have already signed Chris Wood on a club record fee of £15m, and the Premier League side is close to agreeing a £9m deal for the Ghanaian international.
West Ham, West Brom and Brighton were also targeting the striker, but Burnley are close to completing the deal.
Last season, Wairs scored 10 goals in 36 appearances for Ligue 2 side Lorient, and he represented his country at the 2014 World Cup.
The striker would creat some competition with Wood, who could make his debut for Burnley in the Carabao Cup game against Blackpool on Wednesday night.
